CLASS OBJECTIVE

Select your Assessment and determine your Mastery Score.

** The content mastery score represents a rigorous target for student achievement based on the assessment, in other words, what score should students receive to indicate that they have mastered the above assessment.  This value can be a number, percentage, or words.

3

Determine the Level of Student Preparedness based on Baseline Data

** Possible Sources of Baseline Data include, but are not limited to: Results from Beginning of Course (BOC) diagnostic assessment or performance tasks; First interim assessment; Results from prior year test that assess knowledge and skills that are prerequisites to the current subject and grade.

The numbers indicate # of students who, based on baseline data, are at high, medium, or low levels of preparedness.

i.e. In the screenshot, 4 students are already at a high mastery level of preparedness toward the chosen Class Objective (ECA at 75%) while 6 students in the selected class are at low levels of mastery.

4

Determine the Class Learning Objective

A “Highly Effective” teacher should have all students in the high and medium levels of preparedness and most of the students in the low level of preparedness achieve content mastery.

An “Effective” teacher should have all students in the high and medium levels of preparedness and many of the students in the low level of preparedness achieve content mastery.

An “Improvement Necessary” teacher should have most students in the high and medium levels of preparedness and few or no of the students in the low level of preparedness achieve content mastery.

An “Ineffective Teacher” teacher should have few or no students in the high, medium and low levels of preparedness achieve content mastery.

5

OPTIONAL Negative Impact: Will be completed by the teacher and/or evaluator after the growth has been calculated.  It is referring to a teacher that has had a negative impact on student learning.

6

TARGETED OBJECTIVE

The Targeted Objective serves to focus on the Low students identified for your Class Objective.

Select your Assessment (the assessment may mirror that of your class objective or it may be a supplemental assessment whose mastery would positively correlate to mastery of the overall Class Objective).

Example: The Class Objective is ECA or State Summative Test mastery, so the Targeted Objective may be be a Formative Assessment or Benchmark given in preparation of the ECA or State Summative Test.

7

Determine the Level of Student Preparedness (this is a number of students)

** Note this is normally the LOW group as identified in your Class Objective.

8

Determine the Targeted Learning Objective

Identify students in the Targeted Population.

**Note:The targeted learning objective should be directed at the students who start the course at the lowest level of preparedness.

Determine the Content Standard or standards that will be focused on and will have a positive correlation to mastery of targeted objective.

Determine the Growth and/or Achievement Goal (the goal may focus on growth, achievement, or both).

9

OPTIONAL Negative Impact: Will be completed by the teacher and/or evaluator after the growth has been calculated.  It is referring to a teacher that has had a negative impact on student learning.

**Local definitions of negative impact on student learning should be based on the objective measures of student achievement and growth selected for use in teachers’ performance evaluation system.

10

Submit for Approval by your Evaluator

Before submission, you may add additional class objectives or targeted objectives, save and finish later, or proceed with submitting to your evaluator for approval.

11

PERFORMANCE SUMMARY

Record assessment results as compared to what was set for the targeted objective in the SLO. Evaluators should use this information during the Final Summative Evaluation process.
